Karmayogi Pratisthan Activities (2008-09):
'Karmayogi Pratisthan' is
a registered NGO (u/s 80G) with primary focus on civic activities and
education.
The following local work was done till April 2008 - March 2009:
Civic
activities:
-
Traffic warden commissioned at Shanmukhananda
hall junction; Amulak Amichand school; Telang Rd - Bhandarkar Rd junction;
Little Angel's school (in co-ordination with trustees). These steps
have effectively controlled traffic congestion to an extent.

Re-surfacing of Rd 24A in Jain society, Sion
West
-
Skywalk at Sion station
-
Beautification of stretch between GTB
station and Wadala station, along the tracks and near the platform
-
King's Circle station
premises between platform and SIES school completed. Phase II
is in progress near King's Circle station at Flank Road. Phase III between
King's Circle station and Police quarters also in initial stages.

Organized a 'Bihar
flood relief' rally and also made a trip to Bihar to deliver the aid to
about 970 families.

Civic work - Won a
verdict against creation of 'Hawking Zone' at Ram Milan Shukla marg, Sion (E)
and Bhaudaji Rd, King's Circle.

Requested Traffic police to extend signal timings at Gandhi market,
Jain society and LTMG hospital to
enable pedestrians to cross easily.

Shanmukhananda hall
(Flank Road, Sion East) installed sound proof doors to reduce noise
pollution for local residents.

Distributed
information on "Yellow
pages for Dadar-Wadala-Matunga-Sion residents", "How to prevent malaria",
"BMC rules for residential renovation", "How to save
electricity" and "Eye Donation", to local
citizens from Sion
to Dadar.

Won a PIL (Public
Interest Litigation) in Supreme Court and Mumbai High Court, against the Maharashtra Chief
Minister and Deputy CM regarding Police reforms AND over extension of terms for Director General of Maharashtra Police and Commissioner of Mumbai Police, in violation of All
India Services Rules, 1958 and violation of OM (Official Memo) of Union of
India's Department of Personnel, 1978.

Co-ordinating with BMC,
regarding relocation of slums from Flank Road, King's Circle.
Education related activities:
-
We distributed fees to
about 436
academically deserving and financially needy
students
(mostly from
Sion-Matunga area schools, as listed below), as compared to 360 students
from 2007-08, 250 students from 2006-07 and 190 students in 2005-06.

Implemented a
"PC donation campaign" whereby forty one (41) used computers were donated to
deserving children in Sundar Kamala Nagar, Sion (W).

Completing third year for "Best Attendance
Trophy" award given to BMC schools all over Mumbai.

Published
‘DiehardIndian.com’ newsletter to about 4,000 local members, in order to
create awareness about the achievements of India and Indians.
